Transhumanz - Liz Lambert
Exhibition at CNA Luxembourg

In 2023, the practice of transhumance, defined as the seasonal movement of people and livestock, was inscribed on UNESCO’s list ofintangible cultural heritage. In Luxembourg, one of the country’s last remaining transhumant sheep farms continues to move acrossmeadows, villages, and urban areas, preserving a tradition that has shaped both ecological systems and relationships between humans andanimals for centuries.
Over the course of several months, photographer Liz Lambert closely followed this farm. Her work documents the subtle and complexinteractions between shepherds, sheep, and their constantly changing environments. At the same time, it reflects on the relevanceof transhumance in contemporary society, exploring its role in supporting biodiversity and its capacity to connect rural and urbancontexts.
The project was awarded the Bourse CNA x LUGA 2024 and with this opportunity the exhibition “Transhumaz” was presented at Pomhouse in Dudelange.
Quattro Creative Studio was commissioned to develop the visual identity for the exhibition. The design concept responds to the central themes of the project, particularly the relationship between humans and animals and the dialogue between rural and urban spaces. The logo was developed through the combination of two contrasting typographic styles, expressing the coexistence of different entities and perspectives.
A vivid orange was introduced as a key visual element, inspired by recurring details within the photographic work. This color choice references specific moments captured by the photographer, including the presence of orange fencing, and creates a strong visual connection between the identity and the images.
